Chinese Rugs

Chinese rugs are used as home decorations and can come in virtually any design imaginable. They are also known as Oriental rugs. We'll cover a brief history of Chinese Oriental rugs, the most popular design elements found on them, and the different materials and colors in their manufacturing process.

The Chinese have been making rugs since ancient times, and they have always been produced in great quantities. Throughout the ages, wool has been the primary material used to make rugs, they are later treated with chrome colors.

The design elements used by Chinese carpets are fairly standard and are comprised of a variety of motifs and natural or man-made materials. Some repeat patterns, such as geometrical shapes or floral designs, appear in some of the earliest examples but were not yet the mainstay until a few hundred years ago. Since then, they have been used extensively in both traditional and modern patterns, making these Chinese art deco rugs extremely versatile.

The most popular design elements found on Chinese rugs can be divided into rectilinear Designs, which are mostly geometric motifs and angular patterns, and curvilinear designs, which are mostly floral motifs and patterns that are usually more intricate.
